Summary

The goal of the project is to verify possible use of silage made of “beet cuttings and grain straw” to maintain biogas production or biogas plants operation itself when the most important maize biomass is lacking due to weather extremes. Significance of energy from renewable resources is increasing. Taking the fact into account, the sufficient amount of raw material entering the process of methanogenesis is a key element. For energy security in biogas plants production, a methodology will be designed for a standby silage. Knowledge gained will be verified by tests in the semi-operational micro-fermenter. Project results will be applicable in enterprises that operate agricultural biogas plants.
