Description:
Annual oil plant from the Brassicaceae family, suitable for drier conditions, height 50 - 100 cm. It has a short vegetation period (3 to 3.5 months). Flowering time around June 1-10. HTS of seeds is 1.239 g. Seeds are orange-yellow. Oil content is 30 - 40%.
Utilization:
It is used as an oilseed, a catch crop, and as a source of pasture for pollinators. The oil is also used in human nutrition.
Agronomical characteristics:
It requires finely prepared soil for sowing, sown in early spring. Late March to early April, weed-free land is suitable. It is treated and harvested similarly to rapeseed. The seeding rate is 8-12 kg.ha-1 (max. 400 plants.m-2). Sowing depth 10-15 mm. It tolerates low temperatures well in the initial stages of growth. The seed harvest takes place at the end of July. Seed yield 1 - 1.5 t/ha. It is highly resistant to scab. Gray mold has been identified as a disease.
