Precision agriculture and digitalization for the production of biofertilizer tailored to agricultural practice to reduce environmental burden
The absolute majority of composting plants were built using OP ŽP funds in 2007-13 at a time when there were very few experienced designers. A large part of them were built only to process green biomass from municipal sources. In connection with new legislation (especially the new Waste Act), with regard to climate change and landscape changes, to which new EU strategies respond, bringing requirements for nutrient recycling and the transformation of agricultural activity and industrial production to long-term sustainability; it is clear that composting plants have an opportunity, but it will also be necessary for them to adjust the technology and process a wider range of inputs. Composting plants do not have a tool available that would allow balancing the raw material composition of the correct composting process according to the content of organic matter, nitrogen, moisture in connection with the capacity possibilities of the technology and with time.
Agricultural enterprises do not have balance software available that allows for precise dosing of organic fertilizers into the soil according to specific requirements of soil quality, agrotechnical needs and sustainability of agriculture in harmony with environmental protection. Organic fertilizers (bio fertilizers) will increase the farmer's independence in the area of nutrient supply using regional sources, increase the stability and sustainability of agricultural production and improve the soil environment for water retention in the landscape. Organic fertilizers differ in nutrient content, their forms, especially nitrogen. Total nitrogen is made up of mineral nitrogen and nitrogen bound in organic bonds. Each form is differently usable by plants, therefore it is important to know in what quantity and when nutrients are available, so that the nutrients are used by plants and are not lost to surface and especially groundwater.
The new project I4.04BE - Using digitalization to support sustainable agricultural production CZ.01.1.02/0.0/0.0/20_321/0025115, prepared by a consortium led by agriKomp Bohemia s.r.o., which is implementing it in cooperation with the Forage Research Institute spol. s r.o. Troubsko and ZERA-Agricultural and Ecological Regional Agency, responds to these shortcomings. The project will create new technological procedures and new software that will enable better use of the composting plant capacity and the connection of the composting process in terms of both technical and technological aspects. The project will be implemented from February 1, 2021 to April 30, 2023.
