Summary:
The research task addresses the sub-stage “B 2.2. Clover and other forage crops”. The main objective is to collect, test, describe and long-term preserve seed samples of forage species. Meadow species and some endangered plant species are also collected. Seed samples are stored in the national gene bank at the Research Institute of Plant Production in Prague-Ruzyně. The main tested and evaluated species are Medicago spp., Trifolium pratense, T. repens and Trifolium spp. and other forage species. Available varieties, ecotypes and wild forms are evaluated. Currently, there are 2460 available items registered in the collection of the department, descriptive data are available for 1395 items.
