Summary
The aim of the project is development of plasma technology for the seed treatment which will lead to improved germination of seeds and subsequent plant vitality with simultaneous minimisation of chemicals. A new plasma device based on volume barrier discharge in air will be developed for continual seed treatment. Both physical properties of treated seeds and their decontamination will be assessed. Seed germination and plant early growth will be studied at laboratory conditions. Optimal procedures for the treatment of particular seeds will be defined. These procedures will be applied both in pot experiments at controlled conditions as well as in small parcel experiments focused on plant growth up to the harvest, including wintering of multi-annual plants at various climate conditions.
